Building fills the day, so it is easy to mistake it for the whole problem. Distribution is the other problem: finding the people a product is for, and learning whether they stay. I underestimate it while the software is still taking shape.
I have shipped public products. Restro20 is a restaurant POS. GrabSaaS is a site for finding SaaS products, offers, and tools. Own Research is analytics and simulation tools. Focus20 Labs is the AI practice. Being on the internet is not the same as being chosen. I have not published conversion numbers or revenue, and I am not going to invent them to make this note sound finished.
The hard part is that the build gives constant feedback and distribution often gives silence. A feature can be completed. A person either changes how they work or they do not. Praise is not that change. A visit is not that change.
I still think the build matters. You cannot distribute a thing that does not exist. I no longer think the build answers the question of who it is for. That question has to be asked on purpose, and the answer has to be behaviour, not my own excitement.
