What I am examining

I keep this for the argument that a repeated condition does more than a mood: cues, environment, and the behaviours a person actually repeats.

A one-percent improvement that never gets repeated is still an event.

I have written about this question in Systems Over Motivation. Those notes are mine. They are not a review of the book.

My note

What I keep is the environment and the repeated action, not a promise that a tiny gain compounds into a result. I try to use it as a loop: a time I already protect, a next step small enough to start, and a sentence written down when I stop. I do not accept a habit streak, or a routine I have not actually run, as evidence that the idea is working.

Bibliographic note

James Clear. The full title is Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones. Avery published a first hardcover in 2018, ISBN 9780735211292. Other printings and formats exist. The copy I read is not recorded, so this entry does not name an edition as mine. The jacket and the Amazon link are that 2018 hardcover.
